Tony Conza is the dad of WOOF Patrol Mascot, Pomo. Tony is the Founder of the Blimpie sandwich chain. His years of experience in the restaurant business led him to believe the way to one's heart is through food. Pomo agrees. One night over dinner he sat down and compiled what WOOF Patrol has since and most appropriately tagged "Little Bites".

Men's Journal magazine's October issue featured a six-page spread on Napa's New Breed, with casting by Suzanne Stack. Founder of Suzanne Stack Casting, an agency that specializes in real people casting for print and TV ads, has an eye for two and four-legged talent that tells and sells both story and product. Three out of five of the vintners photographed in the fashion editorial had their pooch next to them. We asked her what she thought about the appeal of the Napa Valley dogs. Stack: "They tell something about the person that's engaging and attractive." The Napa canine men sport coats by John Varvatos, sweaters by Polo Ralph Lauren and pants from the Banana Republic. Stack understands that an ad resonating comfort, confidence and realism makes an impact. "The dogs were either at their feet or very close by. Of course we wanted them in the shot. It told the story."     Texas Tech banned the sale of a t-shirt showing a football player wearing Michael Vick's #7 dangling Texas A&M's dog mascot, Revelle, from the end of her leash.     An arbitrator ruled that Vick should repay $20 million of the bonus he got from the Falcons. The team said he used the funds to bankroll a dogfighting ring.     Wag Hotels, a premium dog and cat boarding chain in California, sells a unisex blend of bergamot and vanilla-infused musk combined with natural patchouli, mandarin and nutmeg oils. Yes, it's for the dog.     Old Navy, Lands' End and Sharper Image all offer pet products.     Pay Attention Tupperware: PetLane, a Concord, California direct sales company, has 750 pet advisers selling products through homes in 30 states.     Amount Americans will spend on pets' veterinary care, medicines and supplies this year: $19.7 billion.     Percent of dogs on medication at some point in 2006: 77. Percent of dog owners who purchased health insurance for their dogs in 2006: 3.     Amount the average pet owner will spend on toys and treats this year: $107.     During a radio interview Ann Coulter mentioned that the Nazis banned cruelty to animals and Hitler made kicking a dog a crime. Surprisingly animal protection policy was indeed enacted by law beginning in 1933.     Bravo Foods is recalling certain frozen raw food made in August (Original Formula Chicken Blend, Basic Formula Finely Ground Chicken and Original Formula Turkey Blend) because they could be contaminated with salmonella and listeria. (bravorawdiet.com)     Midge and Madge race chariots, walk a tightrope and are shot through a ring of fire. No, they're not dogs; they're fleas. New York Ringmaster Adam Gertsacov says that females are easier to train and that chariot races are the most difficult to pull off. By the way, even audience members in the front row can't see the fleas. But they do exist, claims Gertacov.     Mattel recalled its Barbie Dream Puppy House, its third recall of Chinese-made products. The cute little doggie in the House poses a health risk.     In his new book, "The Year of Eating Dangerously," British food columnist (and stepson of Prince Charles), Tom Parker Bowles, writes about the world's least appetizing foods. After spending a week in Korea, he chowed down on a soup of medium-sized pooch. "It could be cheap beef brisket," he writes.     During the 1975 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 5-story Underdog balloon crashed into multiple buildings and did a nose-dive to the pavement. Pet Haven Cemetery and Crematory in NYC picks up dogs immediately and arranges burial at Lacy Memorial Pet Cemetery in the Pocono Mountains.     The Hyatt Century Plaza in Los Angeles credits you 500 extra points when you stay with your dog.

Duncan M. McDonald, an Australian shepherd-terrier mix, was removed from Seattle's voter rolls as of July, 2007. Jane Balogh, Duncan's dog-mom, registered her dog to vote in April 2006 by putting her telephone bill in her canine's name and using that as identification when she mailed the form to election officials. She did it to protest a change in the laws because she believes it is too easy for non-citizens to vote. In November 2006 she wrote "VOID" across the first ballot sent to her dog, returning it with an image of a paw print on the signature line. Jane, 66, faced up to 90 days in jail for registering her dog to vote, agreed to a deal that could remove the charge from her record. Instead it's more likely she will serve 10 hours of community work and pay a $250 fine.     University of Woof has an online Canine IQ Test for dog enthusiasts. (www.universityofwoof.com) For example they ask: Which of these human procedures or medications is NOT available for dogs? A.Viagra B.Braces C.Botox or D. Liposuction. Correct Answer: D. Liposuction. Liposuction isn't practiced in veterinary medicine. Veterinarians are not supposed to alter the appearance of an animal just to make them "look better," which is why liposuction is out. The other procedures and prescriptions can have health benefits for some dogs, which is why they're not unheard of in veterinary medicine.     According to Time Out New York issue #626, the Chihuahua group on meetup.com is the largest such group in the nation with 757 members.     Woodstock, NY held their 10th Annual Pet Parade earlier this month. Every year they feature a prize for best pooch costume. WOOF Patrol voted for the Boston terrier entered as a Holtstein-Friersian (black & white) dairy cow as the best MOO-Wonder!     Go to wiggle-n-waggle.com to see more K-9s in Halloween-wear.
